Who
helped start the church?
The Journey was started by a group of people from Church of
The Chimes in San Jose. This group, known as the Launch Team,
has been meeting since May of 2001.
What
does a typical service look like?
We meet in the Santa Teresa High School Auditorium. The atmosphere
is laid-back and non "churchy." We have a full band
and large projection screen on the stage for multi-media.
Basically
it looks and feels good! The experience is
usually about an hour and fifteen minutes.
Do
you provide Sunday school for children?
One word
Journeyland! Our children's program is a comprehensive
program providing a fun, encouraging, relational, and spiritually
stimulating atmosphere for our youngsters. We provide a wonderful
nursery and programs for children through 5th grade during
the service time.
Do
you ask for money?
We are upfront about the whole money issue! The Journey is
a non-profit organization that exists on contributions. The
people who are already connected to The Journey believe in
our purpose, feel like The Journey is truly meaningful to
them, and they give generously. WE NEVER TRY TO MAKE PEOPLE
GIVE! Giving from the heart is good
giving out of guilt
is bad. We commit 10% of every dollar given to us to help
our community and world. Our financial books are open and
audited regularly.
How
will the Journey address the needs of the community?
The Journey is committed to full involvement in the community.
Whether that is cleaning parks and graffiti, serving in a
convalescent home, feeding the needy, or helping out single
mothers, we are here to make a positive difference in our
community.
Who
can come?
The Journey welcomes everyone
no matter where they are
spiritually or what church background they do (or don't) have.
We have seekers and skeptics, we have people who doubt God's
existence and those who are there just to ask questions.
